Beowulf

This wound causes Grendel to die, and Beowulf becomes a hero and is given many great gifts. When somebody steals a treasure from a dragon, the dragon begins to terrorize the Geats, and Beowulf tries to fight him. He sees a larger sword in the swamp, and uses it successfully to kill Grendel’s mother. Now that Beowulf is dead, the Geats feel vulnerable and fear that their enemies will now attack them. s to fight him without armor or weapons. Following Beowulf’s wishes, the Geats build a barrow and call it Beowulf’s Barrow. He tries to kill her with his sword, but the sword isn’t strong enough. Beowulf challenges himself to fight Grendel’s mother underwater in the swamp. She kills one of Hrothgar’s good friends, Aeschere, and escapes to a swamp. After many years pass, Beowulf eventually becomes the king of the Geats. He gets a tight grip of Grendel’s arm and it falls off. As Beowulf fights the dragon, he is fatally wounded and the other men run for their lives, except for one, Wiglaf. Beowulf is once again praised and showered with many gifts.

It is then time for Beowulf and his men to return home to their king, Hygelac.
