             Censorship is "the restriction, absolute or merely to
             some part of the population (e.g. to the unlearned or to
             children), by the proper political authorities of intellectual,
             literary, or artistic material in any format."4
             Censorship has become a very controversial issue with protests and laws being made every day. Although people may or may not be against censorship it is a fact that some items that are censored are done so in protection of our children. However, with the advancements of technology it has become much more difficult to prevent children from viewing that which they should not. As a result, in today's society children are overexposed to material that is intended for an older audience. In order to remedy this a more filtered system is necessary.
             Due to advancements in technology and the changes in the way our society runs children now have access to material that is much too advanced for them and could be quite harmful to their physical and mental health.
             "Children are being subjected to sexual material and
             messages before they are mentally prepared to understand
             or evaluate what they are viewing. In addition, the majority
             of sex education is taking place in the media, not in the home, church or school." 1
             Over-expo sure to material such as pornography can have very harmful effects on children. Unfortunately, in today's society, the media has been overtly sexualized and adult content, humor, and images have become much too commonplace. Whether it be through television, movies or the internet it is necessary to obtain a harsher filtration system so that adult material will only be viewed by adults.
