Nowadays, censorship is one of the most controversial topics that are discussed by most people all over the world because of its serious effect on different elements in the society. Some people say its right and others say its wrong. However, Censorship is the process of banning and controlling some sort of information in a specific setting or society. Censorship could take the shape of different kinds such as censoring books, magazines, Internet, movies, music and many other demanding elements. Some people argue that the right thing is to ban censorship because it closes the person’s thoughts and personality toward different aspect of life and make him/her unknowledgeable about essential things at their surroundings. On the other hand, some people say that censorship is necessary these days to protect many people from unwanted information that threatens and destroys the ones’ attitudes, behavior, values, principles and knowledge. In this paper, I am going to talk about the causes and effects of censorship with regarding to people’s different views about it, its consequences on society as a whole and finally my own point of view regarding this topic.

For example, a kid who always reads comic magazines that talk about a hero who flies and do impossible things can really affect that kid’s mentality to an extent that he becomes his or her role model. As one of the writers stated “ If children are raised without exposure to their views, how will they know that they are right or wrong when they come into contact with them later in life?” (Ray Bradbury, 1998). As a result, they keep surfing the net, buying magazine and books, and listening to music that may have a negative effect on their mentality. So, we should be set free to gain knowledge by the mean we chose for ourselves t because it is God’s will for us to search knowledge every where in the world. To start with I will talk on how censorship could be negative for us? Many argue that we should not ban any sort of information at any kind of source because people must know and learn and they won’t learn unless we expose them to different point of views so they can compare between their unveiled believes and their actual ones. Some of the effects are driven from religious beliefs and others are driven from educational and societal ones.
Overall, censorship has both positive and negative effects on any person thoughts and personality. However, if a person did a mistake and misuses his/her mind this will be between them and God and no one could judge or control their thoughts and attitudes. With all me respect to different religions, many people think that each individual has the right to be exposed to different point of views and beliefs so he or she could know about other people’s religions and get more educated bout their norms and values. Some of these mentioned resources could have porno pictures, offensive words or wrong information that the kid can use them directly without any hesitation. As a result, this kid will start to imitate that hero’s actions that could result in a disaster.
In conclusion, I think that censoring each source of information is a negative thing because it hinders the ones mind and soul from observing the amount of knowledge and experience that is surrounding him or her. Furthermore, many people think that we should not ban books, magazines or any piece of information that tackles on religion. First of all, People began to censor books, magazines, Internet and many other sources because they felt that these sources are providing destructive information that hinders the one’s own growth and development of moral beliefs and rights attitudes.
