Attack on America

             The terrorist attacks in the United States have tragically touched us all. The horror of this situation will be with us forever. Who can ever forget the images of the planes smashing through the towers and the people falling from and hanging onto to the outside of the building while it's collapsing. How will the changes in major institutions affect people's lives and the American culture?
             There will be many feelings that will be experienced as the days go on from the September 11th tragedy. Feelings such as fear, anger, anxiety, and sadness will fly through us like an airplane. We can feel vulnerable and lose some sense of security and confidence in our community, the world, and ourselves. Children are especially vulnerable. They see these terrible things on television and in the papers, and they see their parents and friends upset, and they don't quite understand what is going on. Parents, teachers, and other adults need to help children and teenagers through this. Another vulnerable group includes people who are re-traumatized by the tragedy. They may have experienced tragic events themselves such as a recent death of a family member, family violence, rape, a plane crash, a car accident, and etc. The recent events in the U.S. may bring back memories and feelings from other events.
             For some, change is tangible- a marriage proposal, a resignation letter, a postponement of parenthood. For many others who haven't reorganized there lives
             September 11th may have planted seeds of change to come. They are re-evaluating priorities, rediscovering faith and patriotism, reconnecting with family and friends, and confronting fear and depression. Relationships- For some, the terror attacks helped them
