Stephen King

King was born September 21,1947 in Portland Main. When
King was three years old his father left leaving his mother (Ruth), his
brother (David) and King to move around until 1958 when they moved back to Maine. At seven King wrote his first short story and published it in a magazine at the age of eighteen. As a teenager in high school, King Played football, was in a local band, sold many pieces of his work to magazines, and was a devoted fan of 1950 horror movies. He graduated from the University of Main in 1971 with a passion for English. He married his college sweetheart in early 1971, Tabitha Spruce.
Stephen King's first two attempts at writing a novel failed. He became very aggravated with himself and threw away the next manuscript. After his wife picked it up and persuaded him to give it another chance in 1974 it became a best seller, Carrie. In 1976 Carrie became a movie. King made enough off of the paperback rights that he saw fit to pursue his dreams for a full-time writing career. King wrote over fifty-one novels in his new career. From 1977-1984 he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Before going under this alias, he published his first two novels Carrie in 1974 and Salem's Lot in 1975 under Stephen King. Here is a list of all of his published work.
