Jealous of Zelda’s wedding Mollie decides to steal some attention by staging a mock wedding. Jacob slowly assimilates into the modern culture. Mollie was elated when she thought she was finally getting a divorce from Jacob, but once she discovers who he has become, she no longer wants one. All of the people of Vienna are very modern and mock his traditional clothes and customs. In all the excitement Jacob gets dragged away from his studies to be the groom. She doesn’t care about anyone except herself. When he shows them that he is actually the famous Ben Alli they are awestruck.
Mollie and Morris travel to Vienna and are invited to a reading of Jacob’s book. Mollie meets Ben and is smitten with him instantly.
Old traditions and modern culture often clash. Mollie knew the vow of marriage was sacred and she respected that.
