In the article “The Matter of Whiteness” by Richard Dyer he mentions that racial imagery is central to the organization of the modern world. I believe Richard Dyer is trying to communicate to us that like everything in the world there is the top of the food chain and the bottom as well. In this case I believe Richard is referring to white dominance in the world today. He uses examples of race being a factor in instances of housing, medical aid and even who wages war or whom it will be waged upon. I believe this to be true because if we look at the out scope of the world today, most of the third world countries are non-white ethnicity. Though the author points out that race doesn’t always come into play but it is never a factor to be dismissed. I agree with this outlook because of several issues that are happening in the world. A perfect example in my opinion is the debt relief of monetary debts to third world countries by the International Monetary bank, which will not forgive these debts to these third world countries. Some of the countries that are involved in this institution are the United States, Switzerland and England. All white run institution that keep these third world

I notice they greet back but I do notice a glare. Though I know I’m just not another Hispanic and will not become another statistic to them. So the invisibility comes into play in my opinion, that white people are still the dominant race. I for one would want my child to study this in school and I wish that it were taught to me at a younger age and not figure it out on my own. I believe that they have experienced it to a certain extent and they know how dangerous it can be to a person. They are already brought into this world knowing that they have an advantage over most other human beings. The gaze itself does not also have to be a look taken into a literal sense, it can be seen as a representation of white people trying to still have a hold on us minorities. I work in a place where whiteness is seen all day long. I always tend to question things as a person, I know that they see me as just another Hispanic in this society. Though we do have to give white people one thing, have developed this country to the point where it is a super power. They don’t need to be told that they are white because they don’t need to know in a sense. The reason I say this is because blacks are not the only minority in this country.
I wonder how many other places are like that all over the U. There was another interesting point the author brought up in the article that may shed light on this issue. An example I can give is when a large amount of people are killed you will typically hear on the news “ a terrible amount of human loss has occurred”.
