A Moment Of Peace

             I am not sure how I arrived at this place. Although I do not remember my travels, the journey must have been long, for the muscles of my legs and back burn as if I have walked a thousand miles. The brisk breeze is a pleasant relief to the 100 plus temperatures of a late August day. The whispering winds, that softly cross the droplets of perspiration on my forehead, carry with them small white creatures. These beings seem to be simple birds, but they have a radiance about them that causes me to ponder their angelic heritage. They are so carefree. I envy them for their innocence. Nevertheless, I am at peace.
             There are no clouds above me. The sky here is so... blue, or is it? A million shades of a million different colors create a blanket of light above. The colors swirl about in the sky as if they are dancing with the birds above me. As I lay here and study the dance between the lights and the birds, I am at peace.
             A virgin smell wisps past my nose, as if to dare me to follow it. As I lift myself up in this gently shifting ground, I see that it is made of a million diamonds strewn about. The tiny shards of diamonds slip between my fingers, but they do not scratch me. These are not diamonds, but carefully handcrafted bits of sand. They are the purest of whites, and they are soft to my eyes. I am at peace.
             There it is again. That smell, it leads me. My eyes gaze upon the purest of oceans. Gentle swells of water, race to the beach, as if their only purpose was to bow and greet me upon my arrival. They lay bouquets before me that smell of roses. The smell causes memories of joyous times to fill my mind. The smell of purity lifts me to a higher peace.
             Darkness begins to form behind me. It slowly begins to take on the shape of a human form. I am not afraid for nothing here will hurt me. I raise my eyes to examine the shadow that approaches me. It is my mother. There will be no words spoken, for they are ...
