             A hug delights and warms and charms, it must be why we all have arms (-anonymous). Ever wonder why God gave us arms? Perhaps to be able to hug the one you love and show him or her your compassion is one of the possible answer. Hugging is a beautiful language of love; unfortunately, it is considered as a taboo in the East culture. For example, in our beloved country Indonesia, when a husband hugs his wife in the airport to say goodbye, some people around them would look at them in despise and start to mock this action deep inside their heart. They would take into account that hugging is not something to be done in public and despise it. They think that it should be a private thing between two people and the only two persons who can do this must be either between husbands and wives or between members of a family. From this kind of thinking, hugging is avoided and even being left out by most people. This idea is partially true, yet we must also see hugging from another point of view, which is hugging as a language or symbol of love. Hugging must not be considered as a taboo; on the other hand, it should be put in as a new beneficial habit in everyone's life. Why? Because hugging is not always a sexual oriented action, it is a beautiful adapted habit from the West, has a lot of both physical and psychological benefits and it is also a very simple thing to be done.
             Firstly, hugging cannot be seen as a pure sexual act. For some people especially in the East, there is a kind of stereotype that when two people are hugging it means that they are expressing their sexual lust towards each other. Hugging is the language of love, not lust. If we look upon the dictionary meaning of hugging, we will see that the assumption of hugging as equal to sex is totally wrong.
