Macbeth
Macbeth was an honorable man whom everybody respected. Macbeth was an awesome military leader and fighter. He vanquished King Duncan's enemy and help retain the kingdom. The play of Macbeth showed that Macbeth's ambition on being king resulted in an ultimate downfall. Through out the play he showed that no one could stand in his way toward the throne. Eventually, people realized that it was all Macbeth's fault and he should be eliminated. Macbeth's ambitions started when the witches told of his future and the beginning of the end started for Macbeth. The ambition was small in the beginning, but he became greedy as he listened more and more to the witches. The 3 witches told Macbeth "All hail, Macbeth, that shall be king hereafter." (Act 1, Scene 3, line 50) and the ideas sparked in his head. The witches also told him that he would get noble titles before he becomes king. In his castle he threw a party with King Duncan and he was named Thane of Cawdor, which was one of the noble titles the witches prophesied. His ambition to be King and some help from his wife motivated him to kill Duncan. The morning after Duncan was killed Malcolm and Donalbain, Duncan
The 1st Apparition said "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff; Beware the Thane of Fife. His ultimate downfall was not paying attention to the prophecy and being overly ambitious on staying king resulted in his death. " (Act4, Scene1, line 71-72) The 1st Apparition said that Macduff was the one that can endanger his future. " (Act 1, Scene3, line 65-68) The prophecy said that Banquo was going to be father of kings not Macbeth. The witches were somewhat to be blamed; if they did not say anything to Macbeth about his future he would have had a great future. Macduff left his castle and his family was left to die in the hands of Macbeth. Hold enough!" (Act 5, Scene 8, line 27-24) this meant Macbeth would fight to the end, even though he knows what is going to happen. Killing Banquo showed that Macbeth was not an honored man and is willing to have his friend killed to maintain the throne within his family. Macbeth's ambitions made him kill a lot of people and knowing this he knew what was to happen to him. The prophecy that was said by the 2nd and 3rd apparition wasn't as bad as the 1st Apparition. Macbeth realized this and said "I will not yield. The 3rd Apparition said that he should only be scared if Birnham Wood moved towards his castle. Most of his troops turned their backs on him when Malcolm's men and the English army were ready to take back the throne. Macduff realizes all the tragic events were caused by Macbeth. His excessive ambition made him fearless.
