The Holocaust
The Holocaust is described as the deliberate systematic persecution and annihilation of European Jews by Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. Adolf Hitler was born in Austria-Hungary, he then moved to Vienna to join the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts to follow his ambition of being an artist. When he was declined admittance to the school, he refused to work and became homeless. This point in time was when he started to hear his Pro-Aryan, anti-socialism, and anti-Jewish views. This is when he thought of himself as a German and not an Austria-Hungarian. In the beginning of WWI, he dodged the draft and was arrested in Germany and sent back to Austria-Hungary where he then joined the army and served in WWI. At this point, he began looking into political parties and joined the German Workers Party. They went form 100 members to 2000 from Hitler who began to move his way up until he was leader of the party. He then changed its name to the Nazi Party. Hitler then began to devise how to take over Germany. His first attempt was a failure called the Beer Hall Putsch. Hitler and 600 armed men stormed a beer hall where the government leaders in Germany were meeting. He was arrested and sent to jail for a few years where he wrote his book
They would go to the churches that held records of deaths, births, and marriages and anyone found to have a grandparent who was Jewish, were considered to be Jewish also. They smuggled guns and other weapons into the ghetto and in April 1943, they tried to destroy the ghetto and strike back against Hitler. When you arrived at the camp you were put into lines where you were then separated out into male and female groups. The second type was forced labor camps where they were forced to work until they dropped dead and you were fed little or no food. The Jews were placed in ghettos which were located in the run down districts of towns. You are stripped of all your clothes and possessions, made to think you were going to take a shower. A nationwide boycott of all Jewish stores started. After the speech the officers went into Germany and Austria and destroyed Jewish shops, homes, and synagoges. Every ghetto had a council in which they would meet with SS officers to decide who went to the concentration camps. The US soilders stopped the walks to the other camps in time before a lot of the people were killed. Mien Kampf which translates to My Struggle. Jews exterminations were not happening very often yet; they were being killed by a shot in the back of the head and throne into a pit. The current German government fell and Hitler took his role as Germany's new dictator. Railroad lines were put in near and beside the ghettos. If you were selected to die, you were immediately sent to a gas chamber.
