A General Approach to the Air-Conditioning System

Human beings are born into a hostile environment, but the degree of hostility varies with the season of the year and with the geographical locality. For removing these effects of environment and changing outdoor conditions to the conditions we feel comfortable we use mechanical systems. Air conditioning system is the most developed system using for this purpose.

Automotive air conditioning systems are used for controlling the conditions of air using in automotive. After investigations, negative effects of this system on the automotive are minimized and with using safety devices the usage area of the system are broaden. Now automotive air conditioning system are one of the most needed systems in automotive.

Full air conditioning implies the automatic control of an atmospheric environment either for the comfort of human beings or animal or for the proper performance of some industrial or scientific process. The adjective ‘full’ demands that the purity, movement, temperature and relative humidity of the air be controlled, within the limits imposed by the design specification. Air conditioning is always associated with refrigeration and it accounts for the high cost of air conditioning.

. . .
While flowing through the suction line from the evaporator to the compressor, the vapour usually absorbs heat from the air surrounding the suction line and becomes superheated. Dehumidification would be achieved in summer but the relative humidity in the conditioned space would be allowed to diminish as winter approached.

Air conditioning is necessary for the following reasons. )

In the compressor, the temperature and pressure of the vapour are raised by compression, and the high-temperature, high-pressure vapour is discharge from the compressor into the hot-gas line. Further, if windows are opened, noise and dirt enter and are objectionable. A vapour compressor, whose function is to remove the vapour from the evaporator and to raise the temperature and pressure of the vapour to a point such that the vapour can be condensed with normally available condensing media. 3 Refrigeration cycles

Refrigeration is defined as any process of reducing and maintaining the temperature of a space below the temperature of the surrounding. Also an engine mounted fan blade, electrically powered fan motor provides additional condenser cooling air. As the hot vapour gives off heat to the cooler air, its temperature is reduced to the saturation temperature corresponding to its new higher pressure, and the vapour condenses back into the liquid state as additional heat is removed . The air conditioner systems operated with vapour compression refrigeration cycle are used for this purpose. 5 Typical Vapour-Compression Cycle

Starting at the receiver tank high temperature, high-pressure liquid refrigerant flows from the receiver tank through the liquid line to the refrigerant flow control. A refrigerant flow control, whose function it is to meter the proper amount of refrigerant to the liquid entering the evaporator so that the liquid will vaporise in he evaporator at the desired low temperature. The vapour flows through the hot gas line to the condenser, where it gives up heat to the relatively cool air being drawn across the condenser by the condenser fan.

The Comfort Chart is a plot of dry-bulb temperature against wet-bulb temperature, with relative humidity lines and effective temperature lines superimposed on it.
