Communication in the organizaton

             This paper will be talking about Communication within the Organization. Throughout this paper I will touch base on the different modes and the basic processes of communication. I will also define what communication is; and how it effects the organization internally, the various cultures within the company, and I will talk briefly about negotiations. The advantages, disadvantages, and barriers will also be discussed in this paper along with why communication needs to be improved and how to improve it.
             Communication is the process of transferring information, meaning, and understanding from sender to receiver. Communication has one goal; to improve the way an employee performs their job. Sometimes that can be difficult when the receiver does not have a complete understanding of what the sender is saying. Accurate communication within and between organizations, between managers to employees, or an employee to employees, and at meetings tends to be complex. "For instance, in a 2002 survey of 1,104 employees around the country, 86 percent of the respondents said that their bosses thought they were great communicators. But, only 17 percent said that their bosses actually communicated effectively " (Clarke, 2002). Without effective communication there can be little or no performance management, innovation, understanding of clients, or coordination.
             Communication tends to have a basic model, which entails of four actions encoding (constructing a message), sending, receiving, decoding (interpreting a message) and five component messages. They are medium (this is for transmission), noise (interference), sender, and receiver. A sender would encode a message and then send it by a medium to the receiver which intern receives the message. Bothered by noise (distractions) the receiver might decodes (misinterpret) the message. This happens almost every day throughout organizations.
