Athletics in Society

Violence in sports can incorporate or be influenced by a wide range of activities, from trash talking- to unruly fan behavior to deliberate physical assaults to fighting. Athetles have become a major part of society not only in the United States but in other countries around the globe . Athletics play an important role in shaping our charaters and our values. There is always that one obnoxioius parent that always has to put there two sense in. Most noticed would be the anti-social behavior by popular sports figures and violence inside and outside of the sports arena. The spotlight on negative behavior from the athletes has made them negative role models for the kids of our time. One specific sport that has an abundant amount of violence in it would be hockey. Therefore the blame for spectator violence can be brought about to whoever has power over the sport. There is growing concern about palyers safety and the increasing levels of violence in amateur hockey. his was athletes are so used to always going for the win that they use this "method" no matter where they are. Also drinking beer has been part of the sports scence since the late 1870's. There are other situations that have to do with athletes in this society but not necessarily the guys playing the game. The acceptance of fighting, endorsement of the "good penalty", disrespect for the officials, as well as anti-social role model behavior are all accepted as part of the game. Bruin was suspended for the rest of the NHL season and charged with assault. Violence has been part of the games culture for decades.
