The Maintenance of Order is keeping society from going into chaos. Society is based off the idea that peoples lives a structured through groups, groups of many different kinds such as rich, poor, black, white, young, old, and many more, but never the less GROUPS. Society is not effected by the loss of an individual but disturb the integrity of the group and the is a problem, that's why there is a Maintenance of Order, to keep control or a handle on the many social problems that could effect the group. The Maintenance of Social order is Control. Conformity is when you stay with your group and do not step out of line; you are going with the flow and not disrupting the calm waters. Now when dealing with the norms you are dealing with labels that can not be changes such as being a male or female, young or old and when one of the norms are disrupted society is disrupted and you are not conforming you are being deviant. Social location is a little more abstract than things such as norms which are set in stone, but the reason Social Location is a little more abstract is because if your considered poor because you are born into a poor family this can be changed. There is one common theme within society and that is Control and when it comes down to it and you get past all the little definitions and words that hide it I came to one conclusion. Social Control starts in the mind, if you as a person want to do good and conform it's because of your conscience, which is created by society to make you feel bad for doing wrong. You may not be poor anymore but you are still in a group there for you did not disrupt society. Socialization consists of many different things that make it possible to keep society in place. But if you are being deviant beyond control than a higher level of social control must step in, the physical type of control, the police. The police are there to punish you if you are getting out of control and to protect the people who conform. When the action of an individual is messing up social order and if that individual turns into a group there is a real problem and in society that would be the worse case scenario. Deviance is when you do disrupt, most of the time it's an intentional disruption, and there are many different levels of deviance. That's why there are different levels and types of social control.
