ISSUE 2: THE AMERICAN BOMBING F HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI- NEED
Since the beginning of time there has been fighting and war, from the Vikings to the Roman empire, and from the Nazis campaign of anti-semitism to Osama's fight to destroy America. But there has been no battle, no crusade of war that has ever been more destructive then the horrific bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was a horrible act of destruction which should have been avoided this was a pointless act. The essay will be talking about : The Manhattan Project and the reasons why the Americans created and used the bombs, the deadly effects of an atomic bomb, and how the bomb changed the world forever. The Manhattan Project was the code name for the US effort during World War II to produce the atomic bomb. Sparked by refugee physicists in the United States, the program was slowly organized after German scientists discovered nuclear fission in 1938, and many US scientists expressed the fear that Hitler would attempt to build a fission bomb. Frustrated with the idea that Germany might produce an atomic bomb first, Leo Szilard and other scientists asked Albert Einstein, a famous scientist during that time, to use his influence and write a letter to president Franklin Roosevelt, pleading for support to further research the
Einstein said "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. I leave you with some famous words of Albert Einstein and Galileo Galilei. On the morning of August 6, 1945, a B-29 bomber named Enola Gay flew over the industrial city of Hiroshima, Japan and dropped the first atomic bomb ever. The project (The Manhattan Project) was a success, or was it. Also the dropping of the bomb changed the way wars have been fought since then. So success is not the word I would use to describe that August 6th day. One could only hold their breath to think if it was in the wrong hands and this is why the Americans should be held at fault for the whole world living in fear of another atom catastrophe. It took more than one hundred thousand Japanese lives and the effects it had on the people are unimaginable. One question that should be raised is, was The Manhattan Project and the use of the bombs necessary to win the war. The pain these people were feeling cannot even be explained. I don't think it was a victory in any way imaginable. I sure know I would feel and sleep easier at night if I knew that countries have heir own nuclear bombs. It was said earlier and I will say it again, in no way was the this event a "success". It burned the flesh right off the people, ordinary men, women and children.
