Abortion: Still a controversial issue
From the past few decades, Abortion has been one of the most debatable issues of controversy in the United States and other developed countries. The word Abortion by definition means the termination of the pregnancy and the development of the fetus before it is capable of independent life. It is also called "the knowing destruction of the life of an unborn child."In this controversial issue, there are two major sides: "Pro choicer" and "Pro-lifer", who advocates for and against abortion. Therefore, In this context, Pro choicer or abortionists advocate that the women have right to do with their body and the government shouldn't interfere in it while Pro lifer or anti abortionists feel that the child are born at conception and should not be aborted which constitutes a murder of an innocent human being. In the United States, about 1.7 million pregnancies end in abortion each year due to cases like economic condition, freedom, congenital defect case and the criminal case such as teen pregnancy. Some abortionists believe that all the women have right and should do whatever they think beneficial. Various kinds of approaches that come from both sides seem to have some flaw reason. They believe that mother have higher risk of mental problem like depression and physical problem like breast cancer and other diseases. Therefore, they justify that the baby should be terminated before birth. According to Roleff, any baby born with congenital damage has greater possibility to be unhealthy and more likely to live life full of suffering or other case might die after birth. They believe that by making abortion unconstitutional, women will loose their constitutional right and freedom. Also they believe that friends and neighbours might ostracize the child in social life. Therefore, they strictly criticize those children that result from such incidents. But, in contrast, anti abortionist believes that such abortion can lead mother's physical and mental health to severe condition. If both child and mother have equal right and freedom, then whose freedom should be sacrificed? Whose right should be sacrificed? Whose desire and dreams should be discarded? These are the questions that make this controversy go on and on without any solution. In a case where childbirth risks the health and the life of the mother, there won't be any single person who goes against abortion. Therefore, In Christianity and Islam, an abortion after few months is considered as a sin. Though there are numerous views from two opposite sides, there are some views that both sides agree. However, on the other side, pro lifer or anti abortionists condemn abortion because of several religious matters.
