According to very many recent studies, the business industry seems to be placing the blame for very many unskilled workers in the their industry on poor skills directly related to the non-teaching in our public school systems. Three ways to do this are by helping educators establish tough standards and assess the performance of each and every student and school system against these same standards. Many times a business is more concerned with a simple standardized test score to determine the best employee instead of weighing out the differences in personalities and subtleties of human behavior. Business continues to complain about what is being taught in schools, yet business has a major impact on our education system. Business wants people who are trained to do a job and not trained thinkers. In a system such as this, industry controlled, a business would control the entire school curriculum because of its many ways to manipulate the wages, benefits, labor contracts, and profits. Schools would be much better off if the politicians and the business leaders would stay out of them and worry about their own problems in their own industry. It seems to be a win at all cost society. Democracy, Capitalism, and the Business of Education According tot the text, our strength as a nation lies in our democracy and availability of free enterprise. Many states require a "free enterprise" course instead of an economics course. This is not limited to small corporations. Why Should Business Be Concerned? The reason for business concern is that corporations have seen a steady decline of skilled workers. They must work with our product just as we, consumers, have to work with theirs. Everyone does not have to "win" to be considered successful. A majority of businesses would be out for themselves in the first place.
