This story proves that love does not have a real definition but is rather an opinion. If their relationship should end, the man should feel no grief. He has never before experienced true love, and he has a corrupt perception on what love means. Before he meets Juliet He thinks that love (or, rather, a love not shared) is pain. She shows this when she speaks favorably of Paris's looks and his nobility. He loves Juliet for her appearance and her status, and not for her personality. A love not shared is painful, but Romeo does not experience true love. His love for Juliet appears to be pure, but his reason does not. Rosaline is just an infatuation of his heart that will not last. Then the man should simply start a new relationship with another woman. If the woman rejects the man initially, he should still feel no grief. Eventually, and the play progresses this love at first site develops into true love. Lady Capulet believes love comes from appearance, both physical and political, and that it has nothing to do with emotion. We know that Romeo’s love for Juliet is true because not even distance can tear them apart.
Paris’ view of love is very similar to Lady Capulet’s.
