             Violence on Television and its Effects on Children
             Slam! "Triple H slams The Rock down to the mat with furry. The Rock is down, but instead of pinning him Triple H decides to get out of the ring and grab a sledgehammer that was conveniently placed under the ring. Triple H then enters the ring and begins to pound The Rock in the back repeatedly with the sledgehammer." (World Wrestling Entertainment) Violent shows like wrestling air on television everyday. Young children who have no idea of fact from fiction witness violent acts on television hourly. Television these days corrupts children's minds and manipulates their senses. People blame television as a main source of violence, but movies and video games are also to blame. The truth is all three of these elements promote and sponsor violence in the world today. Studies have shown the effects of television greatly impact children and their views on violence and the world. Violence in television has a negative effect on people because violent television instills aggressive behavior in children and adults, causes a loss of reality, and discourages people taking responsibility for their actions.
             Violence in television causes aggressive behavior in children. Basically meaning the more violent television a person watches, the more likely a person is to show aggression towards others. Television's over exposure of violence to children effects their short-term behavior. "29% of 14 year olds who watched 3 of more hours of TV went on to commit threats, assaults, or other forms of aggressive behavior."(Stamper) The reason for the increase is because of the extensive amount of television watched by children.
