Should Japan apologize for it's actions in World War 2
Should or shouldn't Japan apologize for it's actions in World War II? Japan has done some really dumb things in it's past, along with the US and a lot of other countries. What makes Japan's past an issue is that it has yet to apologize, for the use and abuse of Philippine, Dutch, and Chinese women as 'Comfort Women'; The Rape of Nanking, and many other things. The Japanese imperial army was to blame for all most all of theses things, not the Japanese people. But because of the Army's actions and propaganda, there has arisen a hint of racism, towards the offended people, and vise versa. I think that this is because of, not
Healing begins with the first one to bend, and in this case, Japan needs to be the one doing to the back flips. For China, the Rape of Nanking and the invasion of Manchuria, both caused by Japan's imperial army, were major disgraces to their honor, and the Chinese do not take their honor lightly. All the hurt and pain, emotional and physical, can not be taken back, and will forever serve as a reminder for everyone what happens when the ideals imperialism and honor are taken to extremes. But doest that mean the Japan can just push all of it aside and pretend that it didn't happen? No, it means that it should never happen again. Should they apologize? Yes, but just like when a man kills or injures an another, saying 'sorry' rings hollow in the ears of the victim and their family. Apologize and forget? No, know one must ever forget. Just like the Japanese, honor of the family, and of their country is one of the most important things in their cultures. only the actions, but Japan's failure to properly apologize for them. So far there hasn't been any attempt to apologize for these by the Japanese. The hundreds of people who died at the hands of the imperial army can not be brought back by the simple act of saying 'sorry' but Japan hasn't even said a word about it. The Japanese government has apologized to the Korean women that the imperial army used as teishinai, and, although it was a long and hard journey for the few that spoke up, it has led to healing. But, the act of saying it and meaning it can lead to healing. Japan not only has to acknowledge that they did some really terrible things but apologize for it and do it in a way that shows that they really mean it.
