China's architectural art is a particularly beautiful branch in the tree of world civilization.±L¨ Lc Chinese architecture is considered to be one of the three major architectural systems in the world. The other two major architectural systems are Islamic architecture and European architecture. The Chinese and European structures continued over the longest period of time and spread over the widest area. They had brilliant achievements and interacted with each other. This essay focuses on the effect of European architecture on Chinese architecture in terms of interior design and architectural form.Since 19th century when some Chinese architects went aboard to study architecture, especially in European, European architecture has influenced traditional Chinese architecture. Therefore some architecture with European style was built in some cities. After that, new Chinese architectural style gradually replaced the traditional architectural style in some ways. This replacement must have to make some impacts between modern and traditional. These impacts mainly impresses on materials and colours of interior design. Many European roofs look like half sphere with decorative lines. Therefore modern Chinese architectural form accepted the vault on the top of the house and the convenient balcony. Completed in 1936, the house was built as a weekend retreat, an escapes from the pressures of city life. ( ) However European architectural form is definitely different from Chinese style in five fields. Additionally, the curve of Chinese roofs usually slopes down on both sides in a simple fashion. The house itself provides an echo of the landscape, in its cantilevered ledges and continuous glazing-as though the terraces of the waterfall have been simply inhabited, like a series of cave-dwellings that might have existed already.
