Christianity is the most widely practiced religion in the Western Hemisphere. The title for people who practice Christianity is "Christians". Christians believe that God's son is Jesus Christ. The belief in Jesus and God separates Christianity and Judaism. The Jews believe that the Messiah has not come to earth yet. While Christians believe that the Messiah is Jesus. Messiah means "Anointed One". Jesus Christ was born on 1 A.D and died around 36 A.D. Christianity was once persecuted in Rome, but spread to throughout the world. The religion began in Jerusalem, the holy city of many religions. Around 1 A.D, Jesus Christ was born from Mary and Joseph in the town of Bethlehem. Mary was told that she would concieve Jesus from the archangel Gabriel. Therefore, Mary was a virgin and the mother of Jesus. Jesus began preaching the word of God around 28-33 A.D (Website, p 2). The main difference between Jews and Christians is that the Jews believe the Messiah has not come yet. After Jesus died, he rose again and stayed on earth for another forty days then he ascended into heaven.
