North American Ideals of Physical Beauty
North American ideals of physical beauty or bodily "perfection"During our civilized debate, one subject that came that has appealed to me to talk about was " North American ideals of physical beauty or bodily "perfection". I think it has become one of the greatest concerns amongst our culture today that I cannot be unable to discuss on a subject like this one. Many issues and aspects can be collected and analyzed from a subject about ideals of our way of perceiving the human's physical beauty. We are capable to know the problematic factors that influence such thinking in our society, but the reason why it does can vary with different people with different personal needs for themselves. I may be able to name and discuss and a few aspects that I find relevant and related to my topic. I will also discuss about the side effects that this has on our society for having such an inappropriate mentality. There will be solutions and how I think they may one day change or offer benefits to the individuals in our society. We must remember that solutions are always present but it is our will to change and our actions that will make the difference.Eating disorders continue to be a major problem in our society, especially with youn
Of course not all men are going to agree that they prefer skinny women but what they show, in general, is the complete opposite. They appear healthy, glamorous, rich, sophisticated, classy, with a great career, nice houses, nice families, and no worries. Television undoubtedly shapes our picture of the perfect society. This may seem troubling, but most girls admire those bone-skinny bodies, which is not always healthy. There are, of course, alternative solutions for losing weight. We watch shows like "Friends" and we see that the cast wears very nice clothes that we all want to wear because they look good in it. Comments people make toward us seem more difficult to handle because we take everything personally since we are so self-centered. In Japanese culture, men loved curves on women; they were considered to be more healthy and beautiful. We are living in a rushing world and we are almost forced into being unable to take care of ourselves. "Maybe I'm too fat!" Uh-oh! We think that we have to be as skinny as those underweight actresses on television to look as good as they do on television. In our busy work today, it is very hard to have time to think about what we should eat and it's even harder to find time to exercise regularly. But the truth is, many are afraid to be different because they are afraid of being criticized and judged by others. Today, most of us know that to lose weight or to get in better shape, we must eat right and exercise routinely.
