Male and Female Menopause

Our physical ability peaks in early adulthood however, like the declining daylight after the summer solstice, our muscular strength and reaction time begin to wither. In later life, the stairs are no longer an option if the elevators around. The newsprint gets smaller and people begin to mumble. So begins the era in one’s life scientifically known as the “mid-life crisis”. Women, because they mature earlier than men, experience this first. However men do not stay far behind.

Menopause has always been a term related to just women and not men. Conclusive research and studies have proven that men go through menopause as well. Though men and women go through menopause, there are various differences in the way they experience it.

For men, “male menopause (also known as andropause or viropause) begins with hormonal, physiological chemical changes that occur in all men generally between the ages of forty and fifty-five, though it can occur as early as thirty five or as late as fifty-five.” For women, menopause is an important part of their lives. These symptoms make up the differences in the way men and women deal with menopause. While men seek for answers in the toupee, women search for hair pieces to stop this problem. Because so much less activity is performed during the menopausal period, muscles wither away and body fat is there to stay. Men go through a change very much like women in their middle years, they like women experience the hormonal changes that affect their sexuality, mood, and temperament. While women get these hot flashes men are worrying about the twenty year old girl walking by. However, men have to worry about it even being able to rise to even try to solve the dry problem the woman is experiencing. The difference is that men don’t experience the crisis; they just continue living. Women just tend to deal with menopause so much better. There are increased fantasies about having sex with a new and younger partner. Almost all women go through the same experiences with dealing with menopause. “The behavioral expression of depression in men is often quite different from the classic symptoms people in our culture define as “depressed”. The last of the sexual symptoms is the fear of sexual potency in the man and the vaginal dryness of the women. In the physical sense, men tend to have a less endurance for physical activity. They get a sudden feeling that warmth is running through their body. A simple hug or words of encouragement seem to brighten up their day.
