Cherished Moments

             The time we have on this earth is precious. We all should cherish the one we have. There is no one more important to me than my family. Ever since I was a little girl we have spent a lot of time with my grandfather. My family use to live in Frayser and every weekend we would drive down to Byhalia to see him. The drive seemed like it took forever. I remember that road was gravel and there were so many hills. We could barely get down the road if it had rained because the road was so washed out. When we finally arrived at my grandfather's house, he would give me a bag of M&Ms and a pickle. My brothers and I would play with the dogs and then my grandfather would take me fishing. We could spend hours down by the lake fishing together. He would always bait my hook and get the fish off if I caught any. On Saturday night we would come in from fishing and my grandmother and mom would have dinner ready for us. Then we would all sit in front of the TV and watch He-Haw. It was an old show that we all love. On Sunday morning I would get up real early with my grandfather and we would tell me stories about when he was a child. The one that sticks out in my mind was when he was playing basketball. He was going to dunk the ball and his finger got caught on the rim and it ripped his finger off. Then he would show me his missing pinkie. He always would have new stories to tell me and I would listen to them like he was reading me a book. My grandfather had had cancer before and he had to have his voice box removed. So he had this little microphone that he would hold up to his throat so he could talk. He reminded me of a robot. I didn't care though he meant so much to me. Then one day my dad told me some horrible news. His cancer had came back. My world came crashing down. One person I cared so much about was sick. He was in the hospital most of the time. My dad would spend a lot of time up there, when he didn't have to work. I
