Holes
The book Holes by Louis Sachar is about a boy named Stanley. It all started off when he stole a pair of shoes from Clyde Livingston. Because he stole the pair of shoes he had to go to court to see what his punishment would be, he could either go to jail or camp. Because he chose camp he had to go to Camp Green Lake there he had to dig holes every day, the counselors says that " it builds character". But Stanley finds out differently. In this book Stanley changes a great deal from the beginning of the book to the end.One way that he changes is his physical appearance. In the beginning of the book Stanley was a overweight kid in middle school that was often teased about his size.
Before and during the stay at the camp Stanley always had bad luck, because he was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. No longer was he a overweight kid, because he lost so much weight and he had more muscle than he ever had before. They would help if anyone tried to beat him up, but I don't think that will happen. This happened a long time ago when his great grandfather promised an old lady that he would carry her up the mountain, but because he did not she put a curse on him. In the book Holes by Louis Sachar Stanley changes so much from the beginning of the book to the end. Some of his friends were Armpit, X-ray,Squid, Magnet, and Zigzag, but especially Zero. And no longer does the men in the family have a curse on them. Before he went to Camp Green Lake Stanley would always get beaten up by other kids at his school, this was because Stanley was a overweight kid with no friends to help him out. And this was all because he went to Camp Green Lake for being accused of steeling a pair of shoes. To go along with this was that his confidence changed. Because it was such a good book they made a movie out of it. But in the very end of the book Stanley brakes the curse by finding something very special. But because Stanley was a nice kid and was always being himself went he got back from camp he had a lot of new friend. Another thing that changes was the spell that was put on him and the other men in the family.
