The Graduate
Sunny California, late 1960s, the place where much of a recent graduate of Harvard, Ben Braddock, played by Dustin Hoffman, comes home; worried about his future after college is in for the surprise of his life. This film by Mike Nichols is an amazing display talent and cinematography. Nichols was wise to choose the cast he did for this movie. A young and dashing Dustin Hoffman, one of the greatest actors today, gives an outstanding performance throughout the movie. Mrs. Robinson, played by Anne Bancroft, portrays the very sexy and seductive role as wife to Mr. Robinson, played by Murray Hamilton also known for his role in Jaws, a successful lawyer and partner of the great William Daniels playing Mr. Braddock father of Ben and husband to a very beautiful Mrs. Braddock, played by Elizabeth Wilson. The environment, other than my home, I was in a very critical mind. Preoccupied at times with my family coming in for a wedding, I was still able to watch th
The persistence of a man chasing the woman he loves to the end of the world was great. He captured the essence and character of Ben Braddock and played him so well. Though Hoffman has displayed a portion of the great talent that he possesses in many movies, this was probably one of his best performances. Elaine's beauty is seen when Ben takes her out, after promising Mrs. The manipulation, seduction, growth, and strengthening of a young mind into an adult mind is what we, as the audience, sees in this awesome performance and great cast. The comedic scene at the Taft Hotel with Ben Braddock trying to get a room and trying to as inconspicuously as possible just made me roll around laughing. A lesson about chasing after what you love and standing up for what you believe and at the same time having what is forbidden. Later in the film when Ben was trying to get Elaine, played by Katherine Ross who was probably one of the most beautiful women I've seen, to marry him and then trying as hard as he possibly could to find where she was getting married was really funny. I feel that The Graduate is a great movie for the man inside of the boy. Anne Bancroft, another unbelievable performance, played her part so well that it seemed as though I wanted to be in Ben's shoes when she asked, "Do you want me to seduce you, and is that what you're trying to ask me?" I believe that many people, man or woman has wanted something like that to happen at some time in their lifetime, of course without the fact the other person seducing you were married and of the consequences. Then of course, the entire portion of the movie when Ben supposedly falls in love with Elaine and the whole affair of going to Berkley and trying to make her fall in love with him was great. I had many expectations for this movie based on what I've heard from many people; and many of them were met, like the performance, and the storyline. Robinson not to, to a strip club and the stripper dancing over her head.
