Anne Frank: A Legacy

Anne Frank: The Diary of A Young Girl" ... I love them, but only because they are Mummy and Margot...my insides gnaw at me when he praises her...he doesn't notice how he treats Margot different from me...Margot is the sweetest, prettiest girl in the world...and no one is ever satisfied with me...""We're much too young to deal with these problems, but they keep thrusting themselves on us until, finally, we're forced to think up a solution, though most of the time our solutions crumble when faced with the facts. It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.""...And yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more. In the meantime, I must hold on to my ideals. Perhaps the day will come when I'll be able to realize them..."

Throughout the diary, Anne slowly begins to describe her image of her parents-quite positive for her father, and negative for her mother. this world is so utterly boring, I have my movies stars. And now, with what right are they asking this from her? But in the end, her optimistic self, her true self, comes with the solution that what is to happen will. and Margot moves not more than an inch the whole day doing her lessons. and until that time she should not lessen in character nor in happiness. Literary ELEMENTS Place AND SETTINGAnne Frank was incredibly generous with her diary. She spent the last years of her life in a small, crowded attic hideaway of her father's factory, but that the novel's setting doesn't take place there. "This passage begins to describe Anne's obvious conflicts-mainly with her mother and sister. Kitty, I'm so utterly alone in this glum. Throughout her diary you can easily tell she expects never to be discovered, and to live a long life, full of happiness and joy.
