Closing Statement

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury the Prosecution, wants you the jury to think that Mr. Mantle was the man who plotted the theft and then acted in stealing property exceeding $5000. Yet we all know that that cannot be true for all of the evidences that we have exhibited have proven otherwise. (Re-cap) The evening that Reggie and Archie were painting they both spotted Mr. Weatherbee surfing the net and playing computer games this was a surprise to both of the boys because it was known that Weatherbee was computer illiterate! Now why would a man that knows little to nothing about a computer be using the school computers for his own pleasure? Playing video games and surfing the Internet? One would ask WHY? At a question that seems irrelevant, I'll tell you why, Principle Weatherbee knew that the boys were painting at the school that night and he also knew that they had an interest in computers and if the computer were to go missing it would point the finger right at them. All he needed to do was to make a few smart moves to make the break and enter look sloppy almost that of a young adolescent. Weatherbee choose Reggie because of his record and being a troublemaker made him to be the perfect suspect .So as you can there is substantial proof that Reggie Mantle was set up by a man that he had trusted and even looked up too, a man his entire high school career was supposed to be his friend. You the jury are given a grave responsibility to decide the fait of a young man who still has the rest of his life ahead of him, all I can ask is that you don't make the wrong decision and put this young man away who's potentials are undefined, for if we do that we may as well give up on life its self.
