Treaty of Versailles not a Treaty?

The Treaty of Versailles not a Treaty? The treaty of Versailles could accurately be described as an armistice for twenty years and not a peace treaty. The Big Four met at the Paris Peace Conference and they were: Lloyd George, Wilson, Clemenceau, and Orlando. Lloyd George was from Great Britain, Wilson was from the United States, Clemenceau was from France and Orlando was from Italy. Orlando played a very small role in these negotiations. The country was weak and needed a strong central leader. Poincare wanted to use this as a default to reparations that Germany could not pay. Inflation was so high that 200 marks equaled about one American dollar. ess and the animosity of the last four years of this World War. Raymond Poincare's response to the armistice was that it was too mild. The harshness of the Versailles treaty has been sharply criticized and is frequently mentioned for the rise of Nazism in Germany. The United States and Great Britain did not believe they had to be exceedingly harsh in dealing with Germany. 1 percent of prewar Germany and 10 percent of its population in 1910 were lost. When Germany gets the suitable man in charge, she could begin rebuilding to take out the feeling of hatred on the European community. These are examples of the treaty's harsh terms.
