We and the Lord

And how can they know peace or happiness until the soul is allowed to return to its source? All being, wherever and in whatever form they may be, are weighed down by problems and suffering. Those who carry a much greater load of negative actions, and a smaller load of good deeds, will suffer more, and experience less happiness. We are each given a human life according to the way our good and bad actions combine, and while living that life we must settle the accounts of both. Just think, for example, of people who have been given everything by the Lord; good health, respect, wealth, prosperity and a good life partner. He has not withheld anything from them, yet when they sit quietly on their own, they still do not have peace of mind or feel content. However, every person will most certainly have to undergo suffering as well as joy. Those people who have more good deeds and less sins to their credit will appear to be happy people, and will be seen to suffer less. enced only pain and misery, without enjoying the respite of at least a few moments of happiness. They may not even realize that the restlessness they feel is the soul's pull or yearning to return to its own origin. Just as no one has experienced only happiness, without having to face pain. They may not even know what they are lacking. When we account for good deeds we are happy, while accounting for bad deeds, we are miserable.

if you wish to attain happiness, if you wish to find contentment, then you must return to your own origin.

Whatever happiness or sufferings we experience are the result of our good or bad deeds committed in previous lives.
