Childrens Physical Development
My first semester as a group leader was full of experiences. As a clinician I did not realize how many policies and procedures the clinic actually had. The Monday night meetings, confidentiality, safety, the equipment and task management, PE 324 students, he commitment to the program and many more administrative items are vital to the success of the Children's Physical Developmental Clinic. There are many successful policies and procedures, and there are some that need to be investigated, to help ensure the success of this program. The most successful procedure of the clinic is the child to clinician matching. I think it is great that we rate all the children and clinicians individually and then discuss these ratings as a group. Taking these ratings to match a child with a clinician is vital part of the clinic's success. This allows us to match the children with someone who will keep them safe, and help them reach their goals. When a child is match with a clinician that feels nervous or unsure of how to work with a child, the child may then become uncomfortable delaying their rate of success. A clinician that feels this way they may not push the child as much a they should also leading to a decrease in the child's success rate.
As a clinician I use to dread going to listen to the speakers trying to force my self to stay awake. It is great that CPDC has so many safety guidelines and everyone is constantly being reminded of them. This allows them to develop more realistic and measurable goals for their child. The first procedure that needs to be worked on is the PE 324 students. There participation should have a greater reflection on their grade for the class. New clinicians gather ideas and learn the many different ways they can use the equipment. I feel the safety of the children is the most important issue at the clinic. The PE 324 students could also arrive earlier so the group leaders could have a meeting with them and stress the importance of the children's safety, and the confidentiality policy. This also reminds the clinicians with out having to single anyone out. I feel that taking the time each Monday night to review and have everyone put in his or her thoughts on what should be in the next Saturday's classifieds contributes to the importance of them. This day is full of very important information that anyone in the program needs to know. Some come in and are great contributors to the program while others just drag through the morning waiting to leave. Having the sample case study report allows all the clinicians to write their report in the proper format. The Safety procedures and confidentiality policies are two more very important contributions to the success of CPDC.
