Gender Roles
If I could hear myself speak in an age where gender seems to be two lines merging and immerging, I wouldn't think of myself as a product of this or that. I've always thought that greatness or depravity was not a trait of what we had or did not have, but how we handled that lack or abundance. Perhaps it's because I was born into this decade and not the earlier or the next; perhaps it's because the world's changing views have insinuated a pandemonium of ideas. All anybody had to do was pluck them out of stasis. There is much to learn in an assertion posed subtlety as a hypothetical situation. Also, there is much to question. In the process of maturing, we've been given a certain set of rules not only imposed upon us by the mere whim of parents (and perhaps their ignorance?) but also of culture's dictation; its sublime tradition. Then, the world has its complaints about that. And it's a handful.Should we think it unfair that tradition and physical attributes 'limit' the deeds and actions of women and men? Does society implement a rule for little girls to play with dolls and little boys with robots? Does it come, perhaps, when the majority clings to certain, unique aspects of their 'race' (male or female)?
What you see is only a part of what lies beneath. I say that despite all efforts, 'being' gives no leeway. We choose to bring those potentials to act. It's the how inasmuch as the when of the things we do, and how we use our parts. I proved over and over that sympathy and compassion won over more people than fear or physicality ever could. Duty subsides to those two in separate ways, all depending on the faculties of each; after all, duty comes with responsibility and the whole of humankind is not exempt from that. I learned to detest servitude for its sometimes-deplorable bias against women and admire it for its claim on humility. We say culture builds a set of rules to come by and we've also learned that culture molds itself, adapts, and reinvents all its facets. Women have a lot to learn from men; and men, have a lot to learn from women. Still, I also learned that a fist could win the upper hand in a fight. As I see it, it isn't so much as "Hey, we've been doing this all our lives. Once again, we've adapted with the powers of thought and reflection. Hard work and a burning desire to be as hardy paid off to being better than they were by percentage in endurance and in some cases, skills when it came to sports.
