Throughout the history, human beings have faced many diffuculties and they will continue to have diffuculties which life creates for them. How many people do you think have been able to cope or get rid of these obstacles of life. If you think this you will see that it is really a hard work to encounter the diffuculties so at this people need heros to save them sometimes .Heros are the people, that dont’like ordinary people with their inoidinary feelings, exaggrated talents and wiht their other powerfull chracteristics.In this essay I will make a discussion about the subject who are heros, what characteristics they have and my thesis will be “As human beings we will always need a hero to save us”.

So who are these special or what makes them special ? Firstly , as we read in the books “Odyssey” and “Gılgamesh” , a hero should be smart in order to be successfull. Odysseus uses his intelligence and being cuninng to escape and outwit from the Cyclops who is the son of Poseidon. To illustrate, when he meets with Cyclops , Odysseus says that “I am Nobody “ by saying this he disguises his identity and while Cyclops mpourns when he is being killed as “Nobody kills me”” so nobody understands that he is being killed. Then if you have fame you are being respected. I think Odysseus would not been called as a hero i f he didn’t return home despite the temptations.

When we compare our modern hero Ataturk and ancient heros Gılgamesh and Odysseus we see some simlarities and some differences. You can say that he is powerful ,so what? Power brings fame within itself which is the most important prize for a hero of that ancient tiimes. Odysseus would not be a vital hero witout the ambition to meet his wife again after the Trojan war. Odysseus does not fall in to the mistakes that he falls in Cyclops case. The Turkish people who were helpless counted on Ataturk and sheltered in and worship Ataturk. Also hero must be trustable and protect his people. Last speciality of a hero can be that to have the cabability ro enlarge his vision with experiences and with the mistakes that he has done. Also Gılgamesh uses his mind when he is dealing Enkidu with sending him Harlot to civilize Enkidu. To illustrate, todays hero can be like Ataturk with his heroic specialities. We know that how Odysseus is being respected when he goes to Alkinoos palace in Phaiak city. This shelter can be religion or human being in this case. At last Ataturk become a great modern hero who changed the destiny of country. Have you ever thought that if need hero or not ? As I stated in my thesis statement we will always need hero because this is instinctual.
