He is a very confident person who is full of himself. To be described by Cassius “like a Colossus” with “huge legs” probably shows that Caesar is a very big, strong person who thinks he is very great. To be like a god, especially the most important sun god, Caesar should have a lot of power and control over everything, giving him lots of confidence.
He also seems very self-centred. He “doth bestride the narrow world”, not seeing anything but himself. It shows that he does not care for things that do not concern him. To him, everything is in his possession and he holds the world in
. . .
Cassius portrays Caesar as a very demoralising and unreasonable man, not even allowing the people to die peacefully in their own homes. Cassius is quite effective in his talk against Caesar and managed to fully convince me that Caesar is generally not a likeable person
. It seems as if Caesar is not the best person in Rome, and only chanced upon all the power and glory because of a stroke of luck.
Caesar seems like a very conceited person. Most of the talking is done by Cassius who does not like Caesar at all.
Caesar does not seem very special or indispensable. He never gives in to other people and must always have his way no matter how unreasonable he is being, forcing the people to have to “walk under his huge legs”. He must be very proud and stuck up to make people feel petty, small and insignificant.
He appears to be a very frightening and intimidating person, only allowing people to peep at him. It had got nothing to do with skills or brainwork, but was a miracle. “’Brutus’ will start a spirit as soon as ‘Caesar’. He also does not appear to be very well liked amongst the people who actually know him as a person, otherwise Cassius would not be spouting off bad things about him. This shows him as a demi-god, so great that a normal human is too lowly to set a glance on him. Caesar seems unqualified for all the power he gets because he was not born like that.
