a comparative analysis on american and swedish schoolsystem
A comparative analysis of the American- and the Swedish education systemI have heard some Swedes say that the Swedish education system is the best in the whole world. However I also heard some American say that The United States has the best education system in the whole world. These statements actually confused me, who should I believe? Therefore I decided to make my own "investigation" about these school systems, hoping it will give me the right answer. My goal with this essay is to get an idea about if and how the Swedish education system differs from the American education system and also try to find out if there are some resembles between the two systems. I will start my essay with a brief background about the education system in both countries, further I will analyse diversities and similarities in these systems. They attend five or six years of primary s
Upper secondary education is free and a voluntary form of school. Swedish upper secondary school gives students the basic skills needed to live and work in the community, and prepares them for further study. In both countries it is a twelve year basic school. Every city in Sweden is required by law to offer all students who have completed obligatory school an upper secondary education. Upper secondary education is divided into 17 national 3-year programs. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor who teaches courses in the student's major field. Freshmen and sophomores are known as underclassmen the junior and senior or third and fourth years, are the upper classes. students usually study a wide variety of subjects while in college. 4 Upper Secondary Education:Almost all obligatory school students continue on directly to upper secondary school and the majority of these complete their upper secondary education in 3 years. Here in Sweden we get more benefits than students in USA. When they enter their junior year, they must choose a "major" field of study. We have a social security and we receive financial help. The schools are divided approximately in the same way: first there is preschool and then it is primary and secondary school after that there is high school and then upper secondary school and university.
