Solution to the big problem of the two cultures
What should we do about the conflicts between the Jewish and Arab states? Too many people have died from the conflict and it still continues. Peace talks have been tried but have failed miserably. Today all the Palestinians want is the land back from the war of 1967. If they get this they vowed to stop all terrorism and live peacefully. One would think that the people of Israel should give back the land and try to resolve this problem between these two cultures. This is where the but comes in. The people of Israel will not give up the land in total thus continuing the on going war between the two. In order to understand this situation a short history lesson is necessary. After WWII the Jewish people had no where to go. Many were afraid to live in Germany because of the racism. So most went on boats and looked for a new start. Some came to the free land of America and eventually we stopped accepting them. Now with no place to go the boats would be turned around with very little food and people crammed in the little ship. This is when the Jews decided to go back to their holy land Jerusalem. There was only one problem with that idea. The Palestinians lived on this land. In 1923 the British divided Palestine in
The Palestinian Jews were then forced to form an organized defense against the Arabs. Resolution 181 partition plan was to divide the remaining 25% of Palestine into a Jewish Palestinian State and a second Arab Palestinian State (Trans-Jordan being the first) based upon population concentration. The Jewish Palestinians accepted the offer, but the Arab Palestinians rejected the proposal. A women by the name of Sari Nusseibeh writes, "In shaping a better future, we must come to regard Israel as a natural part of the Middle East"(41). Finally in 1947 the British had enough and turned the Palestine matter over to the United Nations. Egypt, Trans-Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen. Terrorism is the worst case scenario and the last resort for an economically hurting country. This is a critical part because this is where the Israelis won the West Bank and Gaza strip. That statement says that the Israelis doesn't want any peace because the only way to get it is to negotiate with Arafat. Although one day the conflict may end. A smart man would avoid war and death and give back the land but not the Israelis. Now to say that the Israelis are the bad guys is not entirely true because what Palestine is doing is wrong also. This was to be the Jewish Palestinian homeland.
