Causes of World War II

Finally, economic problems were causes or effects of the war. Germany surrendered on May7, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945. A series of brutal battles in the pacific brought the Allies to Japan's doorstep by the summer of 1945. Allied forces landed in Italy in 1943 and in France in 1944. Nationalism was an extreme form of patriotism that swept across Europe during the 1800's Supporters of nationalism placed loyalty to the aims of their nation above any other public loyalty. It left most European countries in debt.
