Money, the root of all evil

             The famous American author, Louisa May Alcott once said that, "Money is the root of all evil, and yet it is such a useful root that we cannot get on without it any more that we can potatoes." Humans rely on money for a better life as much as they rely on water to live. The world does not necessarily need money. There are many other different ways of currency. If money did not exist, this earth would have definitely been a better place. Money, the root of all evil, has shaped our world into a corrupt nation, a people without a conscience, and a society of very scrutinizing and greedy human beings.
             Our nation, as corrupt as it may seem, has not always been this way. In the early ages, amassing the most money was not always the main goal. Happiness and a beautiful family were top priority. Today, goals of leaders of various nations are riches and nothing else. The people that support them and put their trust in are completely disregarded. The leaders' neglect the needs of the people and concentrate on only accumulating their wealth. Good examples of this sinister behavior are hostage situations. Their main objective is to receive large amounts of money. They overlook the fact that they are putting innocent lives in danger. Money, we can't live with it, but we cannot live without it.
             Money creates people that have no regard for their conscience. They believe that money equals happiness. If they obtain the money, they assume that everything including friends, popularity, and a celebrity lifestyle, will immediately follow. It is the center of their life and all that they strive for. Money has the power to warp a person's mind and personality. The thought of obtaining it can cause a person to lie, cheat, and do everything in their power to get them closer to it.
