Alzheimer's disease

             The world contains many diseases. Different diseases affect different parts of the body. Alzheimer's disease is a complex disease that affects the brain. Alzheimer's disease is defined by the National Institutes of Health as "the most common cause of dementia among older people. It is marked by progressive, irreversible declines in memory, performance of routine tasks, time and space orientation, language and communication skills, abstract thinking, and the ability to learn and carry out mathematical calculations. Other symptoms of Alzheimer's disease include personality changes and impairment of judgment." Doctor Alois Alzheimer discovered Alzheimer's disease in 1906. This disease is caused by Dementia. Dementia is defined by the National Institutes of Health as "a group of symptoms characterized by a decline in intellectual functioning severe enough to interfere with a person's normal daily activities and social relationships". When a person has Dementia, the person starts losing their memory, he or she has problems with reasoning, and he or she has difficulty learning and starts forgetting how to communicate. If treated early enough, Dementia can be cured. If someone is close relative has Alzheimer's disease, that person has a higher risk than another person to getting this disease.
             As for Alzheimer's disease, it can progress at different rates between three to twenty years and the person will soon need complete care. The person will eventually die from this disease. Yet people do not usually die from this disease alone, they usually have other diseases including Pneumonia, infections, or even if that person falls and its results.
