Red Scare
The research topic I had chosen was the Red Scare. I had chose this topic because this was a very important time in American History. During this time people were very scared of what they did not know and they were terrified for that reason. They were scared of really nothing because the Red Scare was basically a time of free opinion to me. Many people were hurt and killed for expressing their mind and it devastated their friends and families. Another reason I chose this topic is because it happened right after World War 1 and that was really the first big was for America as a whole. The Red Scare had begun at about 1919 shortly after WW1. The Red Scare was a nationwide fear of communists, socialists, anarchists, and other people who did not seem patriotic. During this time, a new wave of bombings had struck eight cities. These bombs were intended mainly for political figures. The bombs had either been set of simultaneously, or they were hand delivered. Anarchists, who had set off the bombs, believed in no type of government and thought that everyone was equal. They had intended these bombs for political figures beca
Also during this time, many immigrants had pulled scams and robbed many public stores. This trial was so important during the Red Scare time, but yet it is also the most forgettable. Out of all the arrests they had made, they found no explosives and only three fire arms. The workers had no choice but to stay in work. Palmer had sent government agents to junt down suspected anarchist, socialists, and communists. Basically, the Red Scare was as quick as it had started ending largely by the summer of 1920. Many Americans had hated immigrants because of the Red Scare. The Red Scare had also set off the Palmer Raids. Agents had jailed suspects for weeks and sometimes months without allowing them to see lawyers, and they also arrested those who had come to visit the suspects. The government sentenced them to death because they were two immigrants that were both anarchists. This is a dissapointment to me because the government of America should apologize to their families and all the innocent people they had hurt. In the governments quest to do this, agents had violated people's civil rights, by invading homes, meetings, and many offices without search warrants. If the immigrants were lucky to stay, it was so difficult for them to get a job, and if they did the salary was low and it was barely enough to support their family. One of the most important trial of this time was the Sacco and Vanzetti trial.
