Ethnography on Church of Latter Day Saints

             "God was once as we are now and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. I say if you were to see him today you would see him like a man in form like ourselves and all the persons and image of man. I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil. God was once a man like us and dwelt on earth, same as Jesus Christ did, and you have got to learn to be gods yourselves the same as all the gods before you. Namely by going from one small degree to another, from a small capacity to greater love." Joseph Smith the founder of the Mormon Church said this outlining some of the Mormon beliefs. Not many people know much about the Church Of Latter Day Saints but this outlines some of their beliefs and behaviors.
             A few of the basic beliefs of the Mormons is that God is their spiritual father, Jesus is their brother that paid for their sins, and in the Holy Ghost. They can get to heaven and eventually be gods of other planets through good works and faith. They must have faith in Jesus Christ, repent, be baptized, and get the gift of the Holy Ghost through the laying of hands. Mormons believe that one can have the gift to speak or interpret tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, and healing. They believe that the bible is the word of God as long as it is translated in the correct way. The "Book of Mormon" and the "Pearl of Great Price" are also the word of God. Mormons believe that Jesus will come back and rule over the earth. They believe in being honest, true, benevolent, virtuous, and doing good deeds.
             The Mormons are inspired to believe this because they have been raised this way, and after reading the Book of Mormon they are to pray and decide if it is true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet.
