Abortion - Pro-Choice
Abortion is one of the most controversial debated topics of this day and age. The reason for this surrounds the idea of whether the induced removal of the fetus is murder or rather in the best interest of the mother. Pro-life activists debate that all life in the instant of its conception is innocent and deserves a chance at life. They also believe that God chooses its time of life and death, not the mother. Pro-choice followers often argue in favor of science and the United States Constitutional Ninth Amendment, which holds freedom of choice sacred. The first patient is the mother, and she is the one who allows the pregnancy to happen or not. Personally, I am pro-choice; however, I am not pro-abortion. Pro-abortionists believe abortion is right for whatever reason the mother has, and basically acts as a sort of contraceptive. This displays a poor conscience and lack of responsibility. This paper will argue in favor of pro-choice while reinforcing the wrongs of pro-abortion. Unfortunately, child support from the father is practically non-existent as most mothers need to find the means to bring the father to court before she receives funds. Often, these children are raised with the overwhelming feeling of being unwanted and rejected by their own mothers. Why subject the child or the mother to this? Welfare may be available to aid the mother, but face it; it is very harsh to base a mother's life and her child's life on this mean. Wade case and the legalization of abortion that these self-induced and back-alley pregnancies no longer exist, but with further support to the women choosing abortion, these numbers will fall and allow women to receive abortions in a clean and professional environment. Unfortunately, even as abortion is legal today, these facilities are understaffed and overpopulated. It helps to ensure that children will be wanted and loved, that families will be strong and secure, and that choice rather than chance will guide the future of humanity. Many pro-choice activists believe the mother has a right to an abortion if the means for supporting a child are simply not available. It is a reaffirmation of the principle of individual liberty cherished by most people worldwide. The lack of funds and attention will or may subject this child to malnutrition, neglect, abuse and/or trauma. Its cerebral cortex does not appear until the second trimester, thus meaning it can feel no pain in its first 12 weeks of gestation. For pro-choice activists, scientific fact argues that the fetus is absolutely "unable to sustain life outside the woman's womb. The second follows the idea that once a mother feels the child "kick," which is around the eighth week, it is living. But, as a pro-choice follower, I believe that reproductive freedom is the fundamental right of every individual to decide freely and responsibly when and whether to have a child. There are an estimated hundreds of thousands of women out there who have self-induced their pregnancy by puncturing their own wombs, drinking iron bits with gin, swallowing hairpins, and taking scalding baths. Another argument for the pro-life party is that even if the mother does not want to care for the child after the pregnancy, she can bring the child to an orphanage or foster care facility.
