Bilbo Baggins character grew much through the book "The Hobbit". Bilbo Baggins went through several tasks that made his character grow. After Bilbo beat Gollum in a game of riddles his became more confident in himself. When Bilbo fought and defeated the spiders he earned the respect of the dwarves. When Bilbo stole the cup from the dragons hoard it showed he was brave and a true theif. Bilbo Baggins was key character in "The Hobbit" and changed much throughout the book.
             Bilbos became more confident after defeating Gollum in a game of riddles. Bilbo's task was to solve a riddle that Gollum gave him. If he got the answer he lived. If he were wrong Gollum would eat him. Bilbo was good at riddles and he defeated Gollum. Then Bilbo used his ring to escape from Gollum. This event made Bilbo more confident in himself. Bilbo realized that he accomplish a tough task when he beat Gollum. This event also made Bilbo more confident in his skills of being stealth when he had his ring on. Bilbo Baggins put this ring into use during his task of defeating the spiders.
             Bilbos characteristics of being brave and a warrior came out when he fought the spiders and saved the dwarfs. The dwarves had been captured and poisoned by the spiders. Bilbo task was to save the dwarves and kill the spiders. Bilbo used his ring to prevent the spider's form seeing him. Bilbo then spotted the web where the dwarves where being held. He then had to fight his way through spiders to get to the dwarfs. Bilbo cut the dwarves free. This event showed that Bilbo's character became braver when he faced off against the spiders. Also, Bilbos warrior type characteristics grew when he fought with and killed many spiders. Bilbo's most noticeable characteristic growth was when he stole a cup from Smog.
