Chocolates or Sports

Some people eat to live and some live to eat. Especially the people who live to eat probably know the unpreventable desire to eat a chocolate bar very well. And again people with the slogan “live to eat” should know the significance of doing sports, for if they do not, they can damage their bodies a lot by only eating and not caring for their bodies. It is most probable that even those who live to eat do not think about the importance of both chocolates and sports in their lives. Even if they do, they mostly do not find anything related between the two concepts: eating chocolates and doing sports. However, eating chocolates and doing sports have many things in common. And even though they have major differences, chocolate eating and doing sports are not as different activities as they might seem.

Even though the majority of the people prefer to lose weight and keep their fitness at a high level, they are very slow to start doing any kind of sports activity. In most cases, the reality is that people are so lazy that they either begin doing sports reluctantly or totally give up the idea of doing sports. For eating a chocolate bar, the case is just the reverse. Although most people try to thwart weight gain,

. . .

Regardless of the reluctance to start doing sports, once a person starts doing sports, that person realises that sports activities help him to feel relaxed and gives pleasure to the person (besides the pain in his muscles). However, both have very different places in people’s hearts and they are also essential for people as long as they are not in excessive amount. The hormones that are secreted by the body while eating chocolates and doing sports are not the same, however; both of the hormones provide a positive feeling like pleasure and happiness to people. For eating chocolate, the process that goes on in the brain is not very different in fact. Nevertheless, it is very common that in a highly stressful situation people tend to more of any kind of food, especially chocolates because they are the ones with the best taste. In a normal life style, nobody spends his whole day by eating chocolate bars or doing sports. What else can give such pleasures to human beings?

. Exercises also alleviates anxiety and depression (Tavris, 1997). Also, a study done with preschoolers show that “children who did aerobic exercises daily for eight weeks not only had better cardiovascular fitness and agility than children who spent the time in free play, but also had higher self-esteem,” (Tavris, 1997). When a person’s muscles are relaxed, the brain realises this relaxation and joy and as a result secretes the kind of hormones that will make the person happier. Those are the moments in which the absence of chocolate bars or doing sports become obvious. While a person is eating chocolate, the person gets excessive energy from the chocolate bar, which may lead to weight gain. For most people both of these activities cause some kind of an addiction. Eating chocolate does not have such long term relaxation effects. For example, when a person tastes a new kind of chocolate bar and likes its taste, it is very likely that the person will want to eat from that chocolate bar again.
