Fahrenheit 451

Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without books? Probably not, but in the book Fahrenheit 451, the story takes place in a time and place when books are illegal. The government prevented anyone from having books.

People throughout history have been power - hungry, and most of the people who were the hungriest never realized it, but books were really their worst enemies. Books have been the main source of knowledge for generations. Without them - we wouldn’t be who we are today. That’s why, in this story - and maybe in real life at one time - the government tried to prohibit people from

. . .

The hatred was between whites and pretty much everyone, but it was geared toward blacks, mostly. Books are something to be cherished - and books like Fahrenheit 451 serve only to show this fact.

Books are the past, books are the present, and books will be the future. However, some of the whites - quite a few actually, knew that the hate most of the race felt was wrong and immoral.

A long time ago (not so long ago), and still a little bit now, there was an unfortunate time of extreme hatred among Americans. People who can read can obtain limitless knowledge and learn to better form their own opinions. The things that they wrote showed the whites who read them that African Americans have minds and feelings, and are human beings, the same as everyone else. The human race is dominating to all other species on this planet because of our advanced forms of communication. I think that these people knew because of the obstacle that the blacks overcame. Writing is like telepathy because no matter where you are; if you’ve written something, people will know what you think. They took advantage of freedom, and instead of wasting their intelligence and becoming a burden on the country, they learned to read and write. Books are our key to survival because knowledge is what will be remembered when what we know has been forgotten. Can you imagine if some guy who had the world under his thumb gave his people the books we have today? The books would expose them to unhindered possibilities and they would rebel against him in a mighty fury that they never even would have known was possible without the books that their beloved king had given them.
