Many smokers don not like the new by-laws, but others support them. Secondhand tobacco smoke is a cause of disease, including lung cancer, strokes, heart disease and asthma, in otherwise healthy nonsmokers. They should not be able to completely outlaw smoking. If one wants to smoke they should be able to. Restaurants malls and other public places should have smoking
People should not have to inhale second hand smoke. It is not that big of a deal to go outside to have a smoke, rather than to have people breathing in secondhand smoke. If one was considerate enough they would be doing this anyway. All-in-all the law is a very good one. Many affects are caused by secondhand smoke. One should not have to absorb secondhand smoke if one does not want to. Secondhand tobacco smoke increases the risk of bronchitis by 46%, asthma attacks by 43%, ear tube insertions by 38%, and ear infections by 19% in children. The smokers may be mad about this but too bad for them. These are all good reasons why we should have the by-laws. More than 25% of the population have existing health conditions that are worsened and can be deadly when exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke. Now that they have set up smoking area's in some places people will not have to breath secondhand smoke. Cigarette smoke breaks down the body's barriers to allergenic substances, thus allowing a smaller amount to produce a bigger reaction. Smoking by-laws are a good thing because they allow people who do not wish to inhale smoke to not have to.
