Animal Farm

The book Animal Farm by George Orwell is a fantasy story involving a farm owned by a man named Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones is an alcoholic who does not maintain his farm properly. This includes not feeding the animals enough, not harvesting correctly, and not cleaning the animals' stalls. After a while, the animals become tired of Mr. Jones and the way they are treated. One night, Major, the oldest pig on the farm, calls a meeting of all the animals. At this meeting, he describes a time when animals will overtake their farms and masters. After describing this to the animals, he tells of a song he heard once but forgot the tune and words. He says he mysteriously recalled the tune and the words in a dream he had the night before. He then proceeds to sing the song entitled "Beasts of England." The animals became excited after hearing the song. All of the animals began to sing the tune and some of the words to themselves. The smarter of the animals, such as the dogs and pigs, had already memorized the song by heart. Three nights later, old Major died peacefully in his sleep. For nearly 3 months, the animals had been secretly conversing about that night and what Major had spoken of.
During June, the time came where the animals could not take it anymore. They stormed their tormentors and chased them down to the road. The cows ran headfirst with their horns down, the horses kicked, and all other animals bit the men as they ran. The animals could not believe what they had done. They had defeated their master and took the first step in the rebellion. Months passed, and animals ate enough to suit them and did what they wanted, freely. The farm leaders, the pigs, and dogs, soon came up with a set of commandments. These commandments were:
1.) Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
2.) Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
