Anti-Christ

             Few religious people of Bible prophecy will deny that we live in the days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. All around we see the signs of the Savior's return: wars, famines, disease epidemics, sexual vices, religious/ethnic persecutions, global pollution, floods, droughts, escalating violence, and the terrifying rape of our earth's natural resources.
             A great many people think that the prophecy of the Anti-Christ is that of a single individual indwelt by Satan, or perhaps a world leader or politician who is able to deceive many people by his cunning. The prophecy of the Anti-Christ is quite possibly the most unknown prophecy in all of Christendom.
             The word Anti-Christ is translated from the Greek word "anti-christos", and it literally means, one who denies or opposes Christ. Specifically, it means a great antagonist expected to fill the world with wickedness which will be conquered forever by Christ at his second coming. The Anti-Christ also means a false Christ.
             The Anti-Christ has many names: "The Beast", "The Son of Perdition", "The Man of Sin", "The Lawless One", "The Little Horn", "The Wicked One", and "The Turban Head". Maitreya is the name visionaries have said is the Anti-Christ.
             The Christian view of the Anti-Christ is given in II The Thessalonians 2. The Anti-Christ appears as a tempter who works by signs and wonders and seeks to obtain divine honours: it is further signified that this "man of lawlessness" will obtain credence, especially among the Jewish people because they have not accepted the truth. This version of the Anti-Christ, who may now really for the first time be described by this name, appears to have been widely accepted by Christendom.
